Biography

TaraMarie Perri has an MFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in Art History from the College of the Holy Cross.  She is a Vinyasa Hatha yoga teacher certified through OM Yoga, NYC and is a registered yoga teacher (RYT)with Yoga Alliance.  TaraMarie specializes in teaching yoga to dancers.  Through her ongoing research, she has developed Yoga for Dancers, a series of anatomically and energetically themed classes incorporating classical yoga into a structure more sensitive to a dancer's technical needs, as well as designed to help treat and prevent injury.  TaraMarie provides ongoing yoga therapy in the Tisch Dance Department through group and private sessions.  She is on faculty at Joffrey Ballet School, Dance New Amsterdam, and East Yoga in New York City.  In addition to her work with dancers, TaraMarie teaches yoga to performing artists, athletes and professionals from many walks of life, tailoring yoga programs to suit their specific needs.

Over the last 10 years, TaraMarie has also been teaching ballet, modern dance, movement studies and dance composition  in various US and international venues.  She was recently invited as Guest Lecturer to the MA Programs in Practice-Based Research and Drama at Queen Mary University and Goldsmiths University in London.  While in residence, she developed two workshops: Space, Time and Breath as Performance Allies (2005) and Using Movement as an Educational Tool (2006).  TaraMarie is a dancer and costume designer, critically acclaimed in The New Yorker and The Village Voice, among other publications.  She continues to perform with independent choreographers in New York City. www.taramarieperri.com
