Biography
Jaclynn Villamil is a ballet teacher, choreographer and Certified Movement Analyst. Her performing career includes original Broadway casts, television, opera and the concert stage. She is currently Co-Director and ballet mistress of the Second Avenue Dance Company at Tisch. Jaclynn has been on the faculty of the American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow and Doug Varone and Dancers Summer Workshop 2001-2006. She was the recipient of a 1979 Choreography Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and of a 1979-1980 Creative Artist Public Service grant from New York State. She performed as a soloist at The Joyce Theater for Altogether Different with Philip Hamilton in 2003 and for Danspace Project’s Food for Thought in 2004. Jaclynn served as an Editing Advisor/Mentor for The Joyce SoHo Residency Program, and was a founding member of the Board of Directors for Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE. Ms. Villamil rendered service as a Dance Panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts for five years from 2001 to 2006.
