Movies, Movies, Movies!
No other place houses more movies per square mile than Manhattan; here you can find movies spanning all genres and interests. From offbeat hip independent flicks to the eclectic, the political or mainstream Hollywood fare; there is good chance there is a movie that fits your interest perfectly.
It is quite appropriate to have a course of summer study such as Cinema Studies; after all, it is the center of the movie movement. No matter where you find yourself as a student; whether you're interested in the academic aspects of film, or in film production; whether you’re a preservationist whose interest is in film conservation or you are a budding movie critic – the Department of Cinema Studies is perfect for you.
The First Of Its Kind
The Department of Cinema Studies is one of the first university departments devoted to the history, theory, and aesthetics of film and the moving image. The approach to cinema is interdisciplinary and international in scope and is concerned with understanding films in terms of the material practices that produce them and within which they circulate.
The summer program is a unique opportunity for both visiting and NYU students to gain access to the wide variety of exciting courses offered by the Department of Cinema Studies.
Think Summer. Think Tisch.
