Kanbar Institute of Film and Television

Hands-on Filmmaking

Tisch School of the Arts is internationally recognized and regarded for its diverse education in the art, craft and the technology of film, television, animation and sound production. It is easy to recognize why; the hands-on approach to filmmaking coupled with the development of individual talent within a collaborative working structure is integral to understanding the components of the film industry.

The summer program is a unique opportunity for both visiting and NYU students to gain access to the wide variety of exciting courses offered by the undergraduate division of the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. The most popular course, year after year, is Fundamentals of Sight & Sound: Film; a six-week course that our award-winning alumni agree is the cornerstone of their training. This hands-on, black-and-white, 16 mm film workshop is designed for any student with a love of film, but no previous filmmaking experience.

Think Summer. Think Tisch.
