COMPANY BIOS

 

Kristen Arnold, a native of New Jersey, graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. While at Princeton, she performed in works by Ze'eva Cohen, Rebecca Lazier, and Jessica Lang. She currently dances with TAKE Dance Company and Kazuko Hirabayashi Dance Theater, and she has performed with the American Repertory Ballet. In 2007, she danced at the Yard under the direction of Patricia Nanon, also working with Jonathan Riedel and Catherine Miller.

Heather Brown was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, where she studied at several schools, including the Royal Dance Center and Orlando Ballet School. She was an apprentice with Orlando Ballet before dancing professionally with Orlando City Ballet and Central Florida Ballet. In 2001, she received her BA in English at Smith College. In addition to teaching at a number of schools for the past several years, Heather also served as a ballet mistress for Orlando City Ballet.

Lori Byargeon, a native of Louisiana, graduated from Louisiana State University with a BA in French and a minor in dance. While in Louisiana, she danced with Twin City Ballet Company and Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, and also choreographed and performed for the LSU Dance Ensemble. Her emerging choreography on Twin City Ballet was selected for presentation at Regional Dance America Southwest Festival 2003. Currently, she is a dancer for Raw Delivery in NYC.

Clare Cook is originally from Lafayette, Louisiana and holds a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in dance from Louisiana State University. In Louisiana, Clare spent three years as performer and choreographer with the LSU Dance Ensemble and performed for two years with Cangelosi Dance Project performing works by Kris Cangelosi, Jose Traba, and Irene Rampino among others. Currently, Clare is Company Administrator for GERALDCASELDANCE and serves as an Artistic Associate for Raw Delivery in NYC.

Carlos A. Cruz Velázquez has toured with the Mexican Folk Dance Company of the American School of Puebla as well as performed with UDLA DANZA, Cava-Parker Dance, and Compañía Sunny Savoy. Carlos is the founder / director of "Colectivo 2Z", a Mexico-based dance company that encourages collaboration among diverse artistic disciplines and the director of "Tlaxochimaco-Mexican Artists Showcase" in New York. He is a Fulbright and Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes fellow.

Tiffani Harris currently performs with the Jamal Jackson Dance Company and Ayoj Llewop Body Politic. She has toured with the Shadow Box Theater and C. Eule Dance. Tiffani thanks God for His continuous blessings and the opportunity to perform with the Second Avenue Dance Company.

Jennifer Jones received her BFA with a focus in Ballet Performance from the University of South Florida in 2006, before moving to New York to pursue her Master's Degree at Tisch School of the Arts. Her choreography has been selected as a representative of USF at the American College Dance Festival for the Southeastern Division, as well as chosen to be performed in the Celebrazione Festival in Milan, Italy. She has been privileged to work under Tina Fehlandt, Jessica Lang, Nina Watt, Ronald K. Brown, Deborah Jowitt, Jim Martin, Charles Flachs, Paula Nunez, and Gretchen Ward Warren.

Philip Montana is originally from New York. He received his BFA from the University of Florida in dance performance and is currently working towards his MFA in dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He has worked with Tatiana Bagonova, Michael Foley and Shapiro & Smith Dance. He joined Shen Wei Dance Arts in Fall '06. He currently dances with Adele Myers and Dancers. His own works have been presented at WAX, Pier 63 and Galapagos Art Space.

Meredith Moore graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in Communications and a minor in Psychology in 2003. In 2006, she received her certification in dance education from the University of Georgia. Following graduation, Meredith trained at the Alvin Ailey School, pre-professional division, where she received extensive training. Meredith has had the privilege to work with such artists as Ciara, TLC, Lloyd, and Jagged Edge.

Patricia Noworol, was born in Poland. She received a BFA in Dance Performance on Stage and a Masters in Dance Education from Folkwang University of Essen, Germany. Patricia has worked in several theaters and musicals in Germany as well as in the U.S. In 2002, Patricia was honored in Nordhein Westphalia/Germany and presented with the Young Artist Award of the Ministry of Arts and Culture. She has danced for the likes of; M. Airaudo, J. Sasportes, L.Cruz, A. Alarcon and N. Lafrance as well as on television. ChristinaNoel Reaves received her Bachelor's in Music: Voice Performance from Georgia State University in Atlanta, where she performed with Zoetic Dance Ensemble and taught children and adults throughout the metropolitan area. She currently works as a music editor for the NYU dance department. Christina engages in both music and dance composition and is fascinated by the exploration of the two mediums in simultaneous expression.

Silas Riener grew up in Washington DC. He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Comparative Literature. There he began studying dance with Ze'eva Cohen and Rebecca Lazier, and performed works by James Waring, Vaslav Nijinsky, and Leonide Massine, as restaged by Millicent Hodson. He has also worked with Takehiro Ueyama, Christopher Williams and Rebecca Lazier. In November 2007 Silas became a member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company.

Sydney Skybetter is a dancer, choreographer, and Producer with DancenOw/NYC. Since completing studies at the Interlochen Arts Academy, Columbia and New York Universities, Sydney has presented his choreography at many venues, including the Dance Theater Workshop, where he will share a season in July. http://www.skybetter.org

Bergen Wheeler, throughout her professional career has had the privilege of working with many choreographers including: Sidra Bell, Stefanie Nelson and Sydney Skybetter. As a demonstrator for Milton Myers, Bergen traveled and taught at Julliard, the Ailey/Fordham program and Steps on Broadway as well as abroad in Canada, Norway and Greece. Prior to returning to NYC, Bergen was on the dance faculty at Elon and Duke Universities. As a choreographer, Bergen has had her work shown at Danspace Project, and will be performing at Symphony Space in the spring.

Yin Yue was born in Shanghai, China. She studied Chinese Classical dance at the Shanghai Dance School from 1995 to 2001. After graduation, she studied contemporary modern dance in Shanghai Teacher's College and also worked with the Shanghai Student Dance Company. Yin was ranked in the 2006 top ten dancers in the National Contemporary Dance Competition in China. In 2006 and 2007, she collaborated with director Sean McPhillips, choreographing for the short films The Break Up and Cupcake.
